MISTRAL SOLUTIONS

CEO's Desk

Dear Customer,

The year 2014 has been a momentous one for India with two successful launches of GSLVs and five foreign satellites in orbit. The country’s space agency ISRO created another proud moment for us by successfully tested the atmospheric re-entry of a crew module towards realizing its ambition to send humans into space. I also congratulate DRDO for the successful maiden flight test of Panchi, the wheeled version of UAV Nishant.

The new government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign has also been grabbing headlines internationally. With India pushing for indigenization rather than buying off the shelf from foreign companies, the sector is looking up with greater hopes for technology revolution. Though, there is still a long way to go. Currently 60% of our defense requirements are being met by imports which may remain so for the foreseeable future. India needs greater private sector participation in the defense production sector along with sweeping systemic reforms. I hope the New Year will see effective winds of change.

While eagerly looking forward to the upcoming Aero Show 2015 in February, I take this opportunity to wish the entire defense and aerospace community a successful event and hope that 2015 brings the very best of times for all of us.

Sincerely,

Ultra-miniature 8-Port GbE Switch from Curtiss-Wright

The Parvus® DuraNET® 20-11 is an ultra-small form factor (SFF) rugged Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) 8-port Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switch subsystem optimized for extremely demanding size, weight and power (SWaP) constraints onboard vehicle and aircraft platforms exposed to harsh environmental and noisy electrical conditions (e.g. high altitude, extreme shock & vibe, extended temperatures, humidity, dust & water exposure, noisy EMI, dirty power).

The Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switch subsystem is designed to meet (and will be qualification tested) to demanding EMI/EMC (MIL-STD-461F, DO-160) and environmental (MIL-STD-810G, DO-160) conditions.

GNATdashboard from Adacore

GNATdashboard essentially serves as a one-stop control panel for monitoring and improving the quality of Ada software. It integrates and aggregates the results of AdaCore’s various static and dynamic analysis tools (GNATmetric, GNATcheck, GNATcoverage, CodePeer, SPARK Pro, among others) within a common interface, helping quality assurance managers and project leaders understand or reduce their software’s technical debt, and eliminating the need for manual input. GNATdashboard fits naturally into a continuous integration environment, providing users with metrics on code complexity, code coverage, conformance to coding standard and more.

Whitepaper on Analog Input Performance of VPX3-530 from Curtiss-Wright

Designers working on a mixed-signal application need to evaluate system components based on their fit with a specific situation; there are always technical tradeoffs to be considered. High resolution ADCs, particularly at high speeds, often exploit techniques such as ADC interleaving, but while the use of multiple ADCs is powerful, and common, there are potential issues to be addressed.

This white paper provides the typical (measured) performance of the analog inputs of the VPX3-530, what the advantages are of various modes and how well they compare with the formal device datasheets.

Whitepaper on ‘DDS: the Right Middleware for the Industrial Internet of Things?’ from RTI

Some Internet of Things applications are still about people, such as wearable smart glasses and smart home thermostats. But the vast new opportunity is about infrastructure in industry. Smart machines will change the world economy more than anything since the industrial revolution. These smart machines will combine to form an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) that connects devices into truly intelligent distributed systems.

This paper focuses on that IIoT opportunity. In particular, it introduces a networking standard called the Data Distribution Service (DDS).
