The increasing popularity of hand held devices as mobile computing and infotainment tools is chiefly due to the developments in wireless technology used to transmit data and information between systems. Mobile computing is dramatically changing our day-to-day lives, especially with the popularity of small devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), navigation devices and mobile phones.
As handheld devices become smaller, lighter, and increasingly sophisticated, the challenges involved in their manufacture grow increasingly complex. Although handheld electronic devices provide a variety of features, they are constrained by device size, thickness, power consumption and cost.
The key to the success of any handheld device is efficient battery management and optimal utilization of MIPS and memory. Reducing the energy consumed in using these devices, thereby extending the lifetime of the batteries that power them is one of the major challenges in designing such systems.
Mistral's design team has extensive experience in hand-held devices and other low power applications. Mistral’s significant creations in the handheld devices area include Five Radio Smart Handheld, Portable Media Player and handheld navigation devices. Addressing the growing prevalence of hand held devices in the medical sector Mistral’s has executed designs that help visually impaired people better manage their medication routine and also badges to facilitate communication between doctors in hospitals. |
