Product Life Cycle Support Services for RFID based prescription bottle reader – Case study from Mistral

Mistral had developed an RFID enabled prescription bottle reader for a Device Manufacturer specializing in providing highly intuitive and intelligent technology solutions for people with visual impairments.

Based on customer requirements, Mistral designed and developed the bottle reader which could be used by visually impaired patients to hear the voiced-out medicine information stored in the RFID label of the bottle. Post the design and development of the product, the customer required product lifecycle support services for continued sustenance.

This case study showcases Mistral’s expertise in providing Product Lifecycle support services in the consumer electronics market.

An article on ‘Smart Homes of the Future’ by Vijay Bharath from Mistral

From smart phones to smart cars, technology is transforming virtually every aspect of our busy lives. Technologies not only make life easier while on the go, but new options are quickly simplifying life at home as well. Home automation is proving to be a top home improvement trend.

Home automation isn’t a one-size-fits-all product, so customization is the key. The explosion of high-speed Internet and app-centric smart phones has made it easier for an owner to enjoy the benefits of home technology. The connected home continues to evolve from basic connected home networks to a feature-rich collection of CE devices, broadband-enabled services, and multifunctional set-top boxes and residential gateways.

With the speed of digital age, home automation technology is set to gleam in 2014. The Home automation world is shaping in two ways - by shrinking smart technologies into a smaller package and building a world that's always connected.

An article on ‘Wi-Fi Technology and its exhilarating applications’ by Lavanya S and team from Mistral

Wi-Fi technology uses radio waves to provide wireless high-speed Internet and network connections. Starting off with the basic connectivity years ago, Wi-Fi has now spread its wings over various application areas, limiting the complexity with improved user accessibility. So many ways have been found to implement this technology, to accompany us wherever we go. You can get connected almost anywhere at home, work, libraries, schools, airports, hotels and even in some restaurants. The computer should include a wireless adapter that will translate data sent into a radio signal. This same signal will be transmitted, via an antenna, to a decoder known as the router. Once decoded, the data will be sent to the Internet through a wired Ethernet connection. As the wireless network will work as a two-way traffic, the data received from the Internet will also pass through the router to be coded into a radio signal that will be received by the computer's wireless adapter.

Wi-Fi provides wireless connectivity by emitting frequencies between 2.4GHz to 5GHz based on the amount of data on the network. The major advantage of Wi-Fi is that it is compatible with almost every operating system, game device and advanced printer. A few of its applications are VoWLAN, Wi-Fi Positioning System, and Harvesting power from Wi-Fi.
