Dear Customer,

Welcome to another issue of Infowaves! The only thing constant in the past decade is the change in technology. The pace of technological innovation is faster today than ever before and the driving technologies for the coming years would be intelligent, digital and mesh. We feel that some of these technologies are beginning to break out from emerging state and will have substantial potential across industries in 2017!

In this newsletter, we would like to introduce the RZ/G1E SMARC (Smart Mobility ARChitecture) Module developed by Mistral. Built around Renesas R8A77450 (RZ/G1E) dual 1.0GHz ARM™ Cortex-A7 Microprocessor (MPU) the small form-factor; high performance module is an ideal building block for any portable or stationary embedded systems.

Also included in this newsletter is Mistral’s extensive expertise in designing products for digital audio, video, imaging, and vision applications based on the DaVinci range of Digital Media processors from Texas Instruments. Mistral also offers bespoke design and development services for Drone Electronics based on a wide range of SoCs.

We have tried to keep this newsletter informative, showcasing technical articles and case studies based on the latest technologies. SMARC Module

The RZ/G1E SMARC Module developed by Mistral is a small form-factor; high performance module built around Renesas R8A77450 (RZ/G1E) dual 1.0GHz ARM™ Cortex-A7 Microprocessor (MPU). SMARC (Smart Mobility ARChitecture) is a versatile small form factor computer module targeting applications that require low power, low cost, and high performance. The RZ/G1E SMARC Module measures 82mm X 50mm.

Along with 3D graphics engine and video processing unit on the SoC, the RZ/G1E SMARC Module supports dual camera, dual display ports, dual Ethernet and most of the interfaces of SMARC 1.0 standard. The core CPU and support circuits, including memories, power supplies are concentrated on the module. The DaVinci DSP core is capable of a multi-media framework including compressing video using the latest standards, and in all standard resolutions.The DM81xx, DM36x and DM38xseries of Digital Media Processors are a highly-integrated, programmable platform.

Thermal Management for Embedded Systems (Part 1) : Blog Post

The Physics of thermal management, takes us to analytical and statistical methods where models of bodies or systems are characterized based on their material composition, their state in defined conditions inclusive of their physical characteristics, their inherent conductive or resistive (electrical) characteristics, their energy states, etc. The models created are used for analysis of the behavior of the said bodies or systems, with a definition of boundary condition of operations.

The result of such an analysis received through computer simulations, leads to a theoretical understanding of the operation of the body or system before they are taken to the drawing table and progressively to the production floor. The whole process viz., defining the boundary of operations or environmental conditions, characterization of the body or system and its behavior, mathematically modeling the phenomenon inclusive of the environmental conditions and the system characteristics, is more commonly referred to as Thermal Analysis in the embedded world.

Thermal analysis is therefore an essential exercise (if not mandatory) for the creation of predictable, reliable and successful products and systems. Read More..
