Yet another eventful quarter has come to an end with renewed prospects of several new, innovative and cutting-edge technologies coming into play. With the era of Cyber Physical systems upon us, the possibilities of innovation are endless. A multitude of small footprint devices engrained with sophisticated sensors and advanced communication technologies are revolutionizing the embedded engineering industry. Devices and systems are increasingly showing the capability to exchange information independently. With ongoing advances in technology, there will be a dramatic increase in the potential of cyber physical systems in several dimensions including smart buildings and homes, medical and assistive technology, smart transportation, Vehicle collision avoidance and more.

With innovation and indigenization being important at Mistral, we present the AM437x Product on Module (PoM) a low cost, small form factor, high performance POM built around the powerful 1GHz Sitara AM437x SoC from Texas Instruments. The AM437x PoM is an easy to use module for developers looking at quickly releasing their products to market by phenomenally reducing the development cycle time. The AM437x will be made available in markets shortly. You can read more about this product in this issue of Infowaves.

We also bring to you the AMC Break-out card which is a six layer plug-in module for the Keystone II family of EVMs.

An interesting trend being observed is the advancement in Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS) being offered by global automotive giants to customers across the world. Mistral is driving several innovative ADAS solutions by working on multiple advanced programs. This issue features a whitepaper on ADAS solutions designed by Mistral.

AM437x Product on Module (POM) from Mistral

The AM437x PoM from Mistral is a low cost, small form factor, high performance; easy-to-use Product on Module (PoM) built around the powerful 800MHz/1GHz Sitara AM437x SoC from Texas Instruments. With extensive integration such as quad core PRU-ICSS, PowerVR SGX 3D acceleration core, dual camera, QSPI-NOR, up to 512KB on-chip memory, Dual ADC and an easily extendable architecture, the AM437x PoM provides a perfect solution for quick product deployment while leveraging the benefits of the powerful SoC.

With an easily extendable architecture and interfaces for LCD, Camera, Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, ADC, PWM, McASP etc., the AM437x PoM provides a quick-start to developers working on application devices like point of services, home automation, Industrial HMI and PLC, Barcode Scanners, Portable Data Terminals, Medical Electronics and Digital Signage among others.

AMC Break-Out Card for Keystone II EVMs

The AMC–Break-out Card (AMC-BOCRT) from Mistral is a six layer plug-in module for the Keystone II family of EVMs starting with TCIEVMK2x. The TCIEVMK2x is a double wide AMC form factor card based on the Multicore DSP+ARM KeyStone II System-on-Chip from Texas Instruments. The AMC–Break-out Card provides access to PCIe, SGMII, SATA, TSIP, Antenna Link Interface (AIL), I2C and JTAG interfaces available on the AMC Edge connector of the TCIEVMK2x EVMs.

The AMC-BOC card is useful for validating interfaces available on the AMC edge connector of TCIEVMK2x EVMs. This card along with the TCIEVMK2x EVMs, serves as a reference design for applications like routers, switches, networking control plane and high performance computing.

Mistral's expertise in Middleware Development

With decreasing timelines and costs and increasing product features, the use of middleware components has become a key element in the design of embedded systems. Mistral offers middleware development services for Android, embedded Linux and Windows Embedded Platforms for device power management, integration of audio and video codecs, and touch screen/display and wireless integration.

Mistral’s Middleware expertise includes Peripheral integration, Feature Development, Third party application integration, Windows embedded, Android and Embedded linux.
