Another eventful quarter has come to a close with several interesting developments and training programs. Mistral and our partner Esterel Technologies organized a Free SCADE Training program in Bangalore. The training saw several participants eagerly looking at enhancing their SCADE Suite knowledge. Mistral was also part of the Xilinx Aerospace and Defense seminar that was held in Bangalore and Hyderabad last month. The seminars were an excellent platform for us to showcase our expertise in FPGA based solutions which include end-to-end solutions for logic design, Hardware Software co-design, DSP Algorithm on FPGA and more.

We are proud of our long term association with the BEL and DRDO labs and are pleased to have successfully completed the delivery of our indigenously designed V12S and Rainier (VME-ADC Boards) for the Akash program. Mistral has designed and delivered over 100 boards for the Akash project. Expanding our solutions portfolio, we are pleased to inform that Mistral has been working on the Intel ATOM platform and has built an expertise in providing development platforms and reference designs on the Intel ATOM range of processors. This expands the portfolio of design expertise that we can now offer to our customers, which include, PowerPC, multi-core SoCs, TI and ADI DSPs. This edition of Infowaves brings to you some interesting products from our partner Curtiss Wright Defense Solutions - the CHAMP-FX4 and the Combined Video Management System and Secure Data Storage/Removal System. Also featured is the Integrated Telemetry Encoder, an indigenous telemetry solution from Mistral ideal for flight/mission critical applications. The Case study mentioned in this issue highlights the Digital Signal Processing Line Replacement Unit- one of the sub-systems in an Aerostat.

Integrated Telemetry System: From Mistral

The Integrated Telemetry System from Mistral is developed for a power range of 1W to 2W telemetry application. The system houses signal conditioning and processing electronics for over 100 channels. The Integrated Telemetry system integrates multi-channel PCM encoder, 1W transmitter, Transmitter antenna and 30 sensors of different types.

Mistral has developed various rugged telemetry modules for flight/mission critical applications, along with various decoder software, for ground station data extractions.

CHAMP-FX4: From Curtiss–Wright

The CHAMP-FX is the flagship 6U product in Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions’ family of user-programmable Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA-based computing products, designed to meet the needs of challenging embedded high-performance digital signal and image processing applications. The 4th generation 6U FPGA card, the CHAMP-FX4 combines the dense processing resources of three large Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGAs with over 12 GB of memory resources, all on a rugged 6U OpenVPX™(VITA 65) form factor module.

The CHAMP-FX4 6U OpenVPX Virtex-7 FPGA Processor card complements this processing capability with vast amounts of backplane I/O bandwidth, exceeding 100 GB/s, directly connected to the FPGAs.

Combined Video Management and Secure Data Storage/ Removal System: From Curtiss – Wright

The Skyquest® VRD1 Video Management System (VMS) and Vortex™ Data Transport System (DTS) showcase an integrated solution for comprehensive control and display of video sensor data with support for secure, removable storage of that video. This solution is ideal for defense and aerospace system integrators whose applications require real-time viewing and recording of large amounts of high definition (HD) video data and require a method for storing and encrypting that data while being able to access it on-demand for post-mission analysis. It is designed for use in airborne surveillance, search and rescue, patrol applications.

Digital Signal Processing Line Replacement Unit (DLRU): Case study from Mistral Solutions

The Digital Signal Processing Line Replacement Unit (DLRU) is one of the sub-systems in an Aerostat, which provides resources for radar signal processing, data capturing, data recording with other radar control functions.

The Case Study highlights Mistral’s expertise in the architecture and design of a custom hybrid system that supports two industry standard bus architectures VME and VPX, to meet the requirements of input /output signals, communication links, processing capability and high-speed data transfer capability.

SCADE Public Training Program

Mistral Solutions and Esterel Technologies recently conducted a Free SCADE Training Program in Bangalore. The Training Program included ‘SCADE Display Basic Training’ and ‘SCADE Suite Basic Training. The SCADE Suite is a model based development environment for critical software. SCADE Suite is the only integrated design environment for critical applications spanning requirements management, model model-based design, simulation, verification, Qualifiable /certified code generation, and interoperability with other development tools and platforms.

The SCADE training program had been designed to rapidly elevate user’s proficiency by exposing them to a balanced mixture of theory and lab exercises.

Xilinx Aerospace and Defense Seminar

Mistral had recently been invited as an Alliance Member at the Xilinx Aerospace and Defense Seminar which was organized in Bangalore and Hyderabad. With several keynote and expert speakers from Xilinx coming in from North America and Europe, the seminar was informative and was attended by customers from several DRDO labs, PSUs and other allied organizations. The Seminar was a great platform to showcase Mistral’s expertise around FPGA based solutions which include end-to-end solutions for logic design, Hardware Software co-design, DSP Algorithm on FPGA and more. The products showcased at the seminar include Telemetry Modules, Integrated Telemetry System, Digital Line Replacement Unit and Multi Channel Data Acquisition system. .
