Digital Radar Receiver System – Case Study from Mistral Solutions
A space vehicles launch centre saw a demonstration of a Radar Receiver solution developed by Mistral and contracted Mistral to provide a custom solution to meet its requirements. The customer has installations of radars based on Mono-pulse technology where the back-end receivers and signal processing systems offer little or no dynamic computing capability. It was an automatic choice for the customer to narrow down on a Radar Processing System comprising of Digital Signal Processing hardware and Intermediate Frequency (IF) modules which were based on newer technology.
Mistral provided a solution that was built in a modular structure with a Software Development Environment that would ensure that the customer could focus on the application implementation rather than at the driver or the hardware abstraction layer. The system, based on VPX technology was modular in nature with a capability of being upgradable with advances in technology. COTS components were utilized in designing the system with the application being developed by the customer’s in-house team.
Test Automation – Article from Mistral Solutions
One of the inherent characteristics of Testing is the lack of time to execute the required tests. In a limited time all required test scenarios need to be executed so that defects are found before the delivery of the product. Test Automation is an important technique/method used to reduce the test execution cycle time. The IV&V Team at Mistral has successfully developed and deployed Test Automation solutions across projects in Automotive Infotainment and Lifestyle Electronics domains.
Addressing the Challenges of Lead-free Technology in Mil/Aero Electronics – Whitepaper from Curtiss Wright Controls
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) have become familiar acronyms to anyone involved in electronics manufacturing. These are the European Union directives that ban the use of lead and five other substances in many electronics applications, thus initiating the world-wide lead-free movement that has resulted in other countries enacting similar legislation.
This whitepaper talks about understanding and addressing/mitigating lead-free impacts requires significant expenditures.
Android Froyo on AM/DM37x EVM – Video from Mistral Solutions
Mistral has brought up Android Froyo on the DM3730 EVM. The DM3730 EVM is based on TI’s Media Application Processor DM3730, a dual-core processor with ARM’s Cortex A8 Core and TI’s C64x DSP Core. Mistral has used the DM 3730’s capability to boot out of SD/MMC memory card by placing the entire Linux firmware and the Android application framework on a SD/MMC Card.
This video demonstrates some of the interesting features of Android Froyo such as 2D and 3D Graphics, including Live Wallpaper, and the multimedia capabilities of the platform.
Mistral has integrated its WL1271 daughter card providing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability into DM3730 EVM running Android Froyo. There is a video demonstrating the browsing and Bluetooth capabilities of Android Froyo. |
