Congratulations to all the winners of Hackfest-23!
Topic 1:
Natural/Industrial Disaster Management System
There are many natural/industrial disasters that can damage and impact the environment and the people living in it. Some of them are earthquakes, cyclones, floods, Tsunami, landslides, volcanic eruption, avalanches, fire, an industrial explosion or emission of toxic or radioactive material, etc. Technology can help provide different analytical tools that has helped Industry, government and civic bodies to predict, track and identify the location of a natural/industrial disaster before its impact such that it can help minimize human loss and damage to property.
Challenge 1
Develop a system to monitor in real- time various industrial / natural disasters eg: earthquakes, floods, wildfires, gas leak, oil spill etc.
Challenge 2
Design a public warning system to provide alerts on the situation and facilitate rapid response and rescue.
Challenge 3
Design a dashboard to provide real-time insights into the status and condition of industrial equipment or the environment.
Challenge 4
Develop a mechanism to predict the likelihood of disaster.
Note: The teams should try and address all the challenges under this topic.
Topic 2:
Industrial Robotic Arm
Mistral & AXISCADES provides Industrial solutions for Bio-Medical, Aerospace and automotive industries. In an industrialized world, hazardous environment are potentially harmful to human health. The use of robotic arms in hazardous environment offers several advantages. They can be used in areas that are too dangerous for humans to enter. This includes areas that are contaminated with radiation or chemicals. Robotic arms are designed to perform tasks that are either too dangerous or too complex for humans to perform. They are used in a variety of industries.
Challenge 1
Manual Mode (Remote operation) - Manually grab an object using Camera & remote control.
Challenge 2
Autonomous Mode - Autonomous grabbing of an object using wheel & arm control. Design and use algorithms for optimal gripping position based on the object geometry.
Challenge 3
Autonomous identification, grabbing and moving the objects to the new location.
Note: The teams should try and address all the challenges under this topic.
Topic: Industrial IoT
The Industry 4.0 revolution was driven by technological change, the Industry 5.0 will be powered by values. With the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT), greater Automation / Hyper-automation and Artificial Intelligence, connectivity between machines is the focus of Industry 4.0. Industry 5.0 will prioritize greater collaboration between humans and machines through cyber-physical systems and technologies. Production managers or engineers as they work in various topics and handle machine may require real-time information about the production line performance. It would extremely be convenient for them if they can view all the graph or chart of data on the go without typing it on a computer or have a voiced based solution where a natural language-based instruction can pull all calculated data and display it on screen.
Challenge 1
Develop voiced based instruction mechanism (hands-free) which can generate graphs / charts or analysis / insights or simply readout the info based on data feed into the system. Integrating with PowerBI or similar tool would be great USP.
Challenge 2
Computer vision-based algorithm which can identify cracks or dents on any large objects such as e.g., vehicles or big manufacturing subsystem and save images in the back-end server automatically with highlights on the dent or crack area.
Challenge 3
Dimension measurement and quality inspection through mobile camera. The system should be able to capture dimensions as per scale set (mm/cm) accurately for simple objects like square, triangle, polygon etc.
Note: These are independent challenges. The teams have the option of addressing more than one challenges based on interest and time available
Topic 1:
Electricity Generation Using Footsteps
– A Sustainable Solution
Energy is something that we have taken for granted for centuries. Whether it is burning fires to create heat or generating electricity to power our homes, it is there when we need it. Needless to say, our modern lifestyles come complete with various energy demands. We need to seek new ways in which we can harness energy, and this is where a renewable energy future becomes crucial.
The generation of electricity using footsteps is an innovative and sustainable solution that involves converting the kinetic energy generated by human footsteps into electrical energy. And it reduces the reliance on non-renewable sources of energy, which can have a negative impact on the environment. With continued research and development, this technology could help reduce carbon emissions and provide a reliable and renewable source of energy.
Challenge 1
Develop a conceptual 3D CAD model to demonstrate the working of footstep power generation system and develop a working prototype. Identify and list the potential locations where the system can be implemented in a densely populated area.
Challenge 2
Design a conceptual system to store and distribute the electricity generated by footsteps, such as a battery system or grid connection (DC to AC conversion). For the above model, make suitable assumptions (no. of people, area, force/vibration) and calculate the average electricity output using analytical method.
Note: These are independent challenges under this topic. The team has the option of addressing both the challenges based on interest and time available
Topic 2:
Electric Vehicles
Infrastructure for India
Electric Vehicles (EV) are not the future, they are happening right now! EV is a growing segment in the Indian automotive market. The government of India has set a target of achieving 100% electric mobility by 2030. The Indian EV market is still in its nascent stages, but it has been growing steadily over the last few years and will grow exponentially in the upcoming years.
In an EV, thermal runaway, vibration or vehicle impact can lead to a potential failure of lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery packs due to their high sensitivity to ambient temperature, pressure and dynamic mechanical loads. Amongst several factors, safety and reliability and easy management and replacement of battery packs is among the highest challenges to large scale electrification of public and private transportation sectors.
Challenge 1
Develop a conceptual 3D CAD model design for optimal placement of a Battery pack, ensuring safety and reliability and easy replacement in heavy vehicles like buses, trucks & construction equipment's operating in harsh and extreme weather conditions. Develop a prototype and show the placement of the battery pack in the vehicle cross-section.
Challenge 2
Identify the possible ways of disposal and recycling of Lithium with safe environmental considerations
Challenge 3
Design/develop a conceptual 3D CAD model of EV charging stations supporting both infrastructural and economical considerations in India.
Note: The teams should try and address all the challenges under this topic.
