Overview

ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller IP Core is a non-volatile, high-density NAND controller,  typically used for secondary storage and long term storage.

ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller IP Core from Mistral is a high-performance solution for managing NAND flash memory in various applications. The NAND Controller offers efficient data transfer, error correction, and wear-leveling algorithms. The NAND Flash Controller IP core facilitates faster data access, improved reliability, and enhanced storage capabilities for next-generation devices.

Mistral’s NAND Flash Controller IP Core is suitable for embedded applications that require high-performance and reliable data storage solutions. Our ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller is designed to support high-speed read and write operations, superior error correction capabilities, and power-saving features to optimize the performance and endurance of NAND flash memory.

The NAND Flash Controller IP Core manages the data stored on NOR and NAND Flash memory, and they communicate with the computer or device. The NAND Controller IP Core devices usually have a complex and multiplexed device architecture that supports only page Read/Write and Block Erase operations. The NAND Controller has a relatively small footprint, which makes it suitable for high-density devices.

ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller IP Core

The ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller IP Core from Mistral provides quick access to various NAND Controller devices over an 8-bit wide interface to handle multiplexed command, address and Read/Write data sequences. Mistral’s ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller IP Core supports the ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller standards, and has several configurable features and parameters to customize the controller for the specific requirements of diverse applications.

The NAND Controller IP Core provides an easy interface to access NAND Controller Memory devices. NAND Flash Controller IP cores support the multiplexed command, address, all hardware protocols and Read/Write data sequences, etc.

ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller for Xilinx/Altera FPGAs

Mistral’s NAND Flash Controller IP Core is available for Xilinx and Altera FPGAs. Our NAND Flash Controller IP Core is designed for maximum Data Transfer Rate and Optimal Resource Utilization. It supports both Synchronous and Asynchronous modes of operation. The ONFI 3.0 NAND Flash Controller IP core can handle all the commands, addresses, data sequences, and hardware protocols.

The NAND Controller manages the ONFI 3.0 protocol, provides ECC protection and provides the user access to the NAND Controller memory by reading and writing control registers of the device. Initially at Power-ON, the NAND controller interface configuration switches from asynchronous mode to synchronous mode to achieve a high throughput data transfer up to 333MT/s. Advanced Multi-Plane Cache mode support of the NAND Flash controller improves program / read / erase operations performance by enabling access of multiple pages/blocks & transferring data to/from the cache registers.
